In today’s knowledge economy, universities are central drivers of innovation, forming impactful partnerships with industry and contributing to regional and global economic growth. Yet, connecting academic expertise with external partners can be challenging — particularly in fast-moving fields with complex terminology. Data fragmentation, disciplinary silos, and language gaps between academia and industry often stand in the way.

In this session, hosted by Digital Science, we explore practical strategies and next-generation tools to bridge these gaps, enhance research discoverability, and strengthen industry-university collaboration.

Drawing on the capabilities of Symplectic Elements, Dimensions, and other Digital Science solutions, we demonstrate how institutions can:

  • Showcase their research strengths, from individual expertise to specialist facilities
  • Translate academic outputs into accessible, industry-ready language
  • Equip technology transfer offices and economic development teams with powerful analytics

What you’ll learn

🚀 AI-driven discoverability

Wikipedia is one of the most important sources of information on the web and one of the most visited websites. A commonly held assumption is that the English Wikipedia is so much larger and active than the others that it’s often the only one people consider.

When two years ago, we at Altmetrics decided to improve diversity by reworking our pipeline to include languages, we became interested in understanding whether the different languages describe a broader view of ‘research’ and – separately – whether academics trust Wikipedia.

Today, Altmetric can track dozens of languages, including English, Spanish, German, Chinese/Mandarin, Japanese, and many more.

Watch our webinar and learn how our research has confirmed that different languages contribute a unique voice to the representation of research and trust.
